What we do

We work with property owners who want outdoor spaces that actually work for them. That means different things for different people — some clients come to us with a blank slate and a vision, others have an overgrown garden that needs attention after years of neglect.

Our team handles everything from the initial concept through to ongoing care. We're not a one-and-done operation. Most of our clients stay with us season after season because maintaining a garden properly takes consistent, knowledgeable hands.

Whether you're developing a new plot or trying to bring an existing one back to life, the process starts the same way: understanding what you actually need.

Areas of focus

Each service can stand alone or combine with others depending on your property and goals.

Landscape design

We create planting plans and hardscape layouts tailored to your property's conditions — soil type, sun exposure, drainage patterns, and how you actually want to use the space. This isn't about copying something from a magazine. Our designers work with the site's existing features and your practical needs to develop something that will look good and function well five, ten years down the line.

Lawn installation

New lawns from seed or sod, depending on your timeline and budget. We handle soil preparation, grading, and the installation itself. Seed takes longer to establish but costs less; sod gives you an instant lawn but requires more upfront investment. We'll walk you through the trade-offs so you can make the right call for your situation.

Tree and shrub planting

Proper planting makes the difference between a tree that thrives and one that struggles for years. We source quality nursery stock, prepare planting holes correctly, and position plants where they'll actually succeed given your site conditions. This includes selecting species that suit your soil, light, and maintenance preferences — not just what looks nice at the garden center.

Automatic irrigation systems

Drip lines, sprinkler zones, smart controllers. We design and install systems that water efficiently without wasting resources or drowning your plants. Particularly useful for larger properties, new plantings that need consistent moisture, or anyone who travels frequently and can't hand-water reliably. Systems can be as simple or sophisticated as the property requires.

Garden maintenance

Regular care on a schedule that fits your property. This covers weeding, mulching, seasonal cleanups, fertilizing, and general bed maintenance. Some clients want us weekly during growing season. Others prefer monthly visits. We adjust the scope based on how much garden you have and how hands-on you want to be yourself.

Pruning and crown shaping

Trees and shrubs need periodic pruning to stay healthy and look their best. We handle structural pruning for young trees, maintenance pruning for established ones, and rejuvenation cuts for overgrown shrubs that need a fresh start. Timing matters — different plants prune best at different times of year, and we schedule accordingly.

Site landscaping

Full-scale property development for new construction or major renovations. We coordinate grading, drainage solutions, planting, lawn establishment, and any hardscape elements like patios or pathways. This is for clients who need someone to handle the outdoor space as a complete project rather than piecemeal services.

Method

How projects typically move from first conversation to finished garden.

1

Site visit and discussion

We come to your property and walk it together. This is where we understand what you're working with — existing conditions, problem areas, what's stayed and what's gone wrong. We also want to know how you use the space, what you like, and what's been frustrating you.

2

Proposal and planning

Based on the site visit, we put together a scope of work and pricing. For design projects, this includes a concept plan showing plant placement and any structural elements. For maintenance, it's a service schedule and task list. We explain our reasoning so you understand why we're recommending what we are.

3

Scheduling and preparation

Once you approve the proposal, we schedule the work around weather and plant timing. Some things can happen anytime; others need specific seasons. We coordinate material deliveries and crew availability to minimize disruption to your property.

4

Installation or service begins

Our crew arrives equipped to complete the agreed work. For installations, this might take several days depending on scope. For ongoing maintenance, we establish your regular service rhythm. Either way, we keep you informed and accessible throughout.

5

Follow-up and adjustment

Gardens aren't static. After initial work, we check in to see how things are establishing. Plants sometimes need repositioning. Irrigation might need tweaking. Maintenance schedules sometimes need adjustment once we see how fast things grow. This ongoing refinement is part of the process.

Questions about our services

How often do gardens actually need professional maintenance?

It varies significantly by property size and planting density. A small, established cottage garden might only need monthly visits. A large property with extensive beds, lawns, and hedging might require weekly attention during peak season. We can assess your specific situation and recommend a realistic schedule.

Do you work with commercial properties as well as residential?

Yes. We maintain grounds for several commercial clients including office complexes and retail properties. The approach differs somewhat — commercial work often emphasizes low-maintenance plantings and consistent appearance rather than the seasonal interest a homeowner might want. Same skills, different priorities.

What's the best time of year to start a landscaping project?

Spring and fall are generally ideal for planting in our climate. Summer installations are possible but require more irrigation attention. Design work can happen anytime — in fact, starting in winter means plans are ready when the ground thaws. For maintenance contracts, we can begin whenever works for you.

Can you work with an existing garden design, or do we need to start fresh?

Absolutely. Many of our clients have established gardens that just need better care or selective improvements. We're not going to suggest tearing everything out when what you really need is proper pruning and some new plantings to fill gaps. We work with what's there unless there's a good reason not to.

What happens to maintenance during winter months?

Our regular maintenance programs pause once the ground freezes and plants go dormant. We handle fall cleanup and winter preparation in November, then resume in spring. Some clients with evergreens or winter interest plantings request occasional winter checks, which we can accommodate on request.
